The White Water Rafting Ubud is one of the most popular day excursions to date. It’s perfect for a group of friends, family, couples, or even a solo traveler. The team will set you up with other people to enjoy white water rafting.

Even though it’s part of a pre-arranged trip, you can always suggest destinations or create a new itinerary. After all, taking a picture at the Bali Swing or aiming for a picture at Heaven’s Gate is already overused. In case you’re looking for a new experience, here are some destinations you can visit.

5 Activities to Pair With White Water Rafting Ubud

1.     Explore Ubud City Center

Most people don’t realize how Ubud holds tons of activities. Of course, there’s the monkey forest and Ubud Art market that you shouldn’t miss. But it also has other interesting landmarks, all within walking distance.

Drive back to Ubud and stop at the heart of the area. Right in front of the Ubud Art Market is the Ubud Palace where Balinese royals reside. Take a little walk across the street and you will arrive at the Ubud Water Palace.

And if you walk a little further, you will see the Puri Lukisan Museum. As the name implies, it’s a specialized, painting-only museum. You can enjoy the works of local and international painters here.

2.     Desa Coklat Bali and Ancient Bayan Tree

Coming to Bali you sure have seen some local chocolate bars in the mini markets. And now you can take the experience a step further by visiting Desa Coklat Bali. You can see the process from planting to harvesting and try numerous chocolate-based dishes.

Located in the same direction is the Ancient Banyan tree. This is one of the crucial tree [arts of the ancient Balinese lore. You sure have heard about the Trunyan Village with their unique custom of placing corpses underneath the Banyan tree.

Rest assured, you won’t see any corpses in the Ancient Tree. Anyhow, the locals believe the tree bark has healing qualities. Therefore, they treat the hundreds-year-old tree as a holy place and hold a ceremony every 210 days.

3.     Elephant Safari Park and Lodge

Bali has two Safari Parks on the island. One is the Bali Safari and Marine Park in southeast Bali where you can see numerous animals from all over Indonesia. And there is the Elephant Safari Park and Lodge a little north of the rafting starting point.

The park has at least 30 Sumatran elephants, with some of them being rescue animals. With the primary focus as a sanctuary, the staff here works their best to provide the best life for the gentle giants.

You can learn a lot more about elephant and their natural habitat in this park. They offer numerous activities such as breakfast near the elephants, touching and even hand-feeding them.

Another thing you can do is to spend the night at the lodging. They offer all of the activities as part of the nightly rate. And now you can enjoy breakfast with an elephant in your yard.

4.     Secret Garden Village

If you want a place to chill and relax after screaming non-stop on the raft, then you must come to this destination. Despite the name, Secret Garden Village is hardly a secret anyone gatekeep.

It’s a collective space with several restaurants and an event hall. If you’re lucky, you may come across a wedding party. However, the restaurants here offer Balinese flavors with a modern twist.

Make sure your visit coincides with the Sunday Market. This small bazaar has snacks, artwork, and other knick-knacks you will love.

And if you missed the market, you still can visit Omah Herborist to experience the traditional Balinese spa. They provide numerous villas with their body care line.

5.     Jatiluwih Rice Terrace and Babahan Crystal Water

To be fair, Ubud has numerous rice terraces you can visit and enjoy. There are the famous Tegallalang and Campuhan ridge walks near the rafting area. However, you may want to explore a bit northwest and visit the Jatiluwih rice terrace.

Located in an almost flat land, Jatiluwih is at least 10 times bigger than Tegallalang. Moreover, it’s also much less crowded which means you can walk leisurely on the paved road. Being on a flat land means you can see the mountains from the rice fields.

You also can make a stop at the Babahan Crystal Water for a calmer tubing experience. This is perfect if you still have the remaining adrenaline from rafting, but want to calm it down a little bit.

Why Rafting Excursion?

Even when you don’t consider yourself to be a natural child, you must try white water rafting at least once. It’s a fun experience with a serious adrenaline rush you wish to replicate some other day.

It’s worth noting how the path is long enough for the excitement to build up, but still short enough to make you crave more. The staff here are professionals who are looking after your safety and comfort.

Each raft also will have a professional guide to steer and navigate the raft. So you don’t have to worry about having any incidents. You just need to focus on enjoying the nature and experience.

Moreover, the whole excursion only takes 2 hours at most. You still have a lot of time to enjoy your time in Bali. And if you don’t want to wait in queue for pictures or want to experience something new, then you can look at the destinations in this list.

One thing about day excursion is you have to wake up early to start the tour. However, given the Bali traffic and the queue line in some destinations, coming early always helps. Especially if you plan to explore other areas as well.

Needless to say, if you haven’t tried this trip, put White Water Rafting Ubud on your list next time you visit Bali. And being in central Bali, you can explore in any direction you want. Whether it’s Tejakula in the North or Amed in the East, you won’t regret waking up early to enjoy the gorgeous nature. (CR/SBA)
